Meet the Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Kevin Young, Ph.D., ABPP, is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology and is the founder and director of New England Neuropsychology, LLC.  His journey towards becoming a psychologist began with an undergraduate degree at Fairfield University, where he completed the Honor's program while double majoring in Psychology and Political Science, and minoring in Latin American Caribbean Studies.  After college, he spent two years at the University of Connecticut Health Center, working on research studies of the genetic contributions to substance dependence.

Dr. Young spent six years of graduate training as a lifespan clinical psychologist, earning his doctorate at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program.  During his time at FDU, Dr. Young was fortunate to receive training at several of the storied psychiatric and medical settings in the northeast including practicum completed at: The Brain Injury Day Treatment Program at New York University's RUSK Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine; Four Winds Hospital Psychological Testing Service; University of Connecticut Department of Neuropsychology; the VA CT Healthcare System's Newington Campus, and The West Haven Mental Health Center/Yale University.  He also trained at several public and private school settings in New Jersey and Connecticut.

Dr. Young completed his APA accredited pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at Hartford Hospital/The Institute of Living, and then stayed at HH/IOL to complete his APPCN accredited two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology.  During his time at HH/IOL, Dr. Young was fortunate to train across multiple settings, including: Psychological Testing Service, The Grace Webb School, The Head Injury Clinic, Neurosurgery (WADA and awake craniotomy surgeries), and The Memory Disorders Center. He also completed both inpatient and outpatient assessment and treatment throughout the hospital and from the community (local schools and physician referrals) and was involved in training department students.

Dr. Young maintains memberships in several local and international organizations, including: American Psychological Association, International Neuropsychology Society, Connecticut Neuropsychology Society (webmaster), and the Society for Personality Assessment.  He is on the medical staff or consulting medical staff at 3 CT hospitals, and is the coordinator for the Psychological Testing Service at the IOL, where he trains psychology and psychiatry residents and fellows.  His research interests involve the predictive validity of psychological and neuropsychological testing, evaluating the construct validity of psychiatric disorders, and risk assessment.  Dr. Young is a member of the Hartford Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB).
