New England Neuropsychology does not participate with insurance providers. This does not mean that your insurance company will not reimburse you for part or all of the evaluation. We will provide you with documentation, at your request, that you may use to support an insurance claim.
Please be aware that purely educational questions will not be covered by any insurance plan, at any practice, as they are not considered to meet medical necessity criteria.
If you are interested in seeking insurance reimbursement, you may want to consider calling your company's benefits department and asking about out of network reimbursement for the following codes:
Typical Battery
96132 & 96133 Neuropsychological Testing - Interpretation, reporting, feedback, first and additional hours
96136 & 96137 Neuropsychological Test Administration, first and additional half hours
96116 & 96121 Neurobehavioral Exam, first and additional hours
Battery may also/alternately include:
90791 Psychiatric Interview
You should plan to pay in full at the time of your evaluation. You will be given a receipt to submit to insurance to support your claim. Final reports/results will not be released prior to receiving full payment. Please inform in advance if you require a different payment arrangement.
We do not charge more for "complicated" referrals as we believe that every one of our patients deserves a high quality, comprehensive evaluation, and based on our expertise, we will choose as many varied assessment techniques as necessary to answer your referral questions. One of the benefits of our freedom from insurance companies is that no outside force dictates how many tests we give or how long we spend with any given patient- we are truly able to invest the time and resources that you deserve to answer your questions and there will never be additional charges for supplementary testing. If you are pursuing a child or adolescent evaluation, you may wish to discuss this with their school, as the school district may cover part or all of the evaluation's cost; particularly if the issues of concern are impacting academic functioning. In this case, we may need to speak to the school to bill them directly.
Payment is due at the time of the evaluation, and can be made via personal check, cash or credit card. Final results will not be released until payment is received.
